E-Recycling

Overview


Effective January 1, 2012, Advanced Disposal will no longer be permitted by law to collect electronic waste from all residential and commercial locations. Under the Illinois Electronic Products Recycling and Reuse Act, no person may knowingly cause or allow the mixing of any of the following items with municipal waste that is intended for disposal at a landfill:
  • Cable receivers
  • Computers and monitors
  • Digital converter boxes
  • Digital video disc player and recorders
  • Electronic keyboards
  • Electronic mice
  • Fax machines
  • Portable digital music players
  • Printers
  • Satellite receivers
  • Scanners
  • Small scale servers
  • Televisions
  • Video cassette recorders
  • Video game consoles

Recyclingbin

E-Recycling Bin 

Beginning in February 2018, an E-recycling bin was placed at the Public Works Facility located at 454 Cary Woods Circle. Residents may place their electronic items in this bin for free.

Items that are accepted include:

  • Circuit Boards
  • Amplifiers
  • Hard Drives
  • PCs
  • Mics
  • Servers
  • LCD Monitors
  • Laptops
  • AC Adapters
  • Fans
  • Electric Motors
  • Hard Drive Boards

  • Office Electronics
  • Priners
  • Faxes
  • Copy Machines
  • CPUs
  • Plastic Electronics
  • Aluminum Electronics
