The Board of Zoning, Planning, and Appeals (ZPA) is a recommending body comprised of seven Cary residents. Each board member is appointed by the Village Board of Trustees for a term of five years with one board member serving as the chairperson.
When a resident or developer proposes a project that is not permitted by-right per the Village’s Zoning ordinance, they must petition the Board of Zoning, Planning, and Appeals (ZPA). The ZPA considers applications for conditional use permits, variances, text amendments, map amendments, and appeals. Upon considering an application, the ZPA will forward a recommendation to the Village Board.
